Web Design

The design of a site tells a lot of the owner or business that it represents. With new innovations in programming languages and concepts, websites are becoming cleverer and are able to carry out more complex tasks and display many different types of media in many different ways. From new and ingenious podcast systems to animated flash systems, from latest data base management to secure e-commerce programs, web design has come a long way from its humble beginnings.
Websites could be simple one or two pages to complex multi page sites. The complexity of a website would be determined by not just the number of pages but the programs that would be incorporated into the design. Some sites would require a page to send contact mails to site owners, while e-commerce sites would require online shopping cart and payment solutions. Some sites would require extra programs such as chatting software or a log-in-platform, or an ability for visitors and owner to upload bulky data such as music and video podcast incorporated into the design. Such extra programs may require a dedicated server that enables them to run effectively.
Some sites are relatively easy to build and some websites on the internet offers tools that could help even an Html language novice construct a simple site of a few pages in a few minutes. Traditionally in order to be able to build or construct websites in the past, one needed to know Html mark up languages. This special kind of language uses special codes that are to be translated and interpreted to the beautiful websites that we see today. A simple windows notepad could be all that is needed to craft out a simple site.
Today however, there a number of WYSIWIG programs that helps one go around using html languages. Programs such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Apache allows the web developer to build websites directly while it translates to html languages. Some people might build a simple site and along the way would continue to improve and enlarge it with continuous web development. After building and designing the site, a domain name would have to be registered and a webhosting company alerted. The web hosting provider would then host your website on his server to the internet. Popular web hosting platforms include Linux servers.

The design of a web site should be appropriate to the purpose of the website. The color combination and structural arrangement must be a balance between putting as much information in a page as against making it professional and pretty looking. Web sites should also be designed with clientele in mind. Make website design as simple and light as is reasonably possible as the heavier the site the more time it takes to upload and open. Keep the main point and information intact as some sites are too large and split into two screens. The important information should be at the top. Do not just use any fonts or colors that might not be available to some of your visitors. Your site should be professionally done but should still be accessible.
